The National Environment Agency (NEA) has confirmed that it will appoint a new operator for One Punggol Hawker Centre, with an open tender set to launch in January 2026. The move is part of NEA’s ongoing efforts to ensure the long-term sustainability and vibrancy of the popular community hawker hub in Punggol.
Smooth Transition Ahead for One Punggol Hawker Centre
The current operator, Timbre + Hawkers Private Limited (THPL), will conclude its tenancy at One Punggol Hawker Centre on 14 August 2026. By then, THPL will have completed its initial two-year tenancy as well as two years of its second three-year term.
According to NEA, THPL cited operational challenges during its tenancy, and both parties have mutually agreed on the revised end date following discussions.
Importantly for residents and visitors, One Punggol Hawker Centre will continue operating as usual, and patrons can expect uninterrupted access to food stalls and dining options throughout the transition period.
Continuity and Vibrancy Maintained at One Punggol Hawker
THPL has committed to maintaining the vibrancy and daily operations of One Punggol Hawker Centre until the end of its tenancy. To ensure a smooth handover, THPL will not take part in the upcoming open tender.
NEA will work closely with both the outgoing and incoming operators to minimise disruption to stallholders, customers and nearby residents during the transition.
Safeguards in Place for Existing Hawkers
NEA emphasised that the well-being and stability of existing stallholders at One Punggol Hawker Centre remain a priority. As part of the tender requirements:
- The new operator must retain all existing stallholders who wish to continue, for a minimum of two years
- Current rental rates will be maintained for the first year
- Any rental increases after that period will be capped at market-valued rental averages
These measures are designed to protect hawkers, support business continuity and ensure that affordable food options remain available at One Punggol Hawker Centre.
Strengthening a Community Hawker Hub in Punggol
NEA reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing Socially-conscious Enterprise Hawker Centres (SEHCs), including One Punggol Hawker Centre, to better serve residents and the wider community.
For many Punggol residents, One Punggol Hawker Centre is more than just a dining spot — it is a key community space offering affordable meals, diverse local flavours and a place for neighbours to gather.
With a carefully managed transition planned, residents can look forward to the continued evolution of One Punggol Hawker Centre, while preserving the heart and soul of Singapore’s hawker culture.
