The move forms part of Phase 2 of the Ministry of Education’s Junior College (JC) Rejuvenation Programme, aimed at creating future-ready learning environments that support collaboration, innovation, and interdisciplinary education. The new CJC campus is tentatively scheduled to begin operations in 2034.

Strengthening Education in Punggol and the North-East

CJC’s relocation to Punggol will enhance access to quality pre-university education for students living in the north-east, while reinforcing Punggol’s growing role as an education and innovation hub. The new campus is designed to serve not just students, but also the wider community through shared facilities and partnerships.

Situated near the Punggol Digital District, the college will be located close to leading digital firms and tertiary institutions, including the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT). This strategic positioning opens up opportunities for industry exposure, applied learning, and future collaborations, giving students early insights into Singapore’s digital economy.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

With its new location, CJC students will also benefit from access to nearby recreational and lifestyle amenities. These include the Punggol Regional Sports Centre, Punggol Heritage Trail, and Punggol Waterway Park, enabling a wider range of outdoor activities, sports programmes, and experiential learning beyond the classroom.

Future-Ready Campus Design

The upcoming CJC campus will feature interactive and flexible learning spaces tailored to different teaching approaches, such as seminar-style lessons, project-based discussions, and collaborative group work. Configurable areas will support niche programmes across disciplines including:

  • Humanities, English Language and Linguistics
  • Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)

Educators will also have access to multi-functional staff workspaces, designed to encourage collaboration and professional exchange.

Preserving CJC’s Heritage

The Ministry of Education (MOE) has assured that it will work closely with CJC to ensure a smooth transition to Punggol, while preserving the college’s rich heritage. This includes safeguarding CJC’s educational traditions, school culture, historical artefacts, and exploring the feasibility of relocating significant architectural elements from the existing campus.

Why this matters for Punggol:
CJC’s move adds to a growing list of major developments in the area, reinforcing Punggol’s position as a key education, digital, and lifestyle precinct for the next generation.
