Good news, Punggol residents! Starting 1 April 2026, Singapore will launch its national Beverage Container Return Scheme — and yes, you can get 10¢ back for every eligible bottle or can you return.
Led by the National Environment Agency (NEA), this new initiative encourages everyone to Return Right and play a part in building a greener, zero-waste Singapore.
💰 How It Works
• Buy drinks in regulated plastic bottles or cans
• Look out for the Deposit Mark on the container
• A 10¢ deposit is included in the purchase price
• Return the empty container to a designated return point or Reverse Vending Machine (RVM)
• Get your 10¢ refund digitally
Simple and easy!
Refunds will be credited digitally via EZ-Link cards, including student and senior concession cards.
🔎 Important: Check for the Deposit Mark
From 1 April to 30 September 2026, there will be a transition period.
During this time:
- Some drinks will have the Deposit Mark
- Some may not (older stock)
⚠️ Only containers with the Deposit Mark can be returned for the 10¢ refund.
📍 Where Can You Return?
Return locations and Reverse Vending Machines (RVMs) will be rolled out islandwide. More details on exact locations and additional refund modes will be announced soon.
We hope to see collection points conveniently located around neighbourhood hubs, malls, and possibly near Punggol MRT or Waterway Point — stay tuned!
🌱 Why It Matters
This scheme helps:
- Reduce waste sent to landfill
- Increase recycling rates
